Department profile
The Department of management offering the BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) program in St Claret College trains students to be well diversified and flexible. It provides exposure to the core fundamentals such as Finance, accounting, and marketing, and also provides the students with enhanced training in human resource management, entrepreneurship and communication. Students can therefore meet employer demands of being well rounded and multi skilled

The program started in 2006 a year after the college started its operations. The department functioned under the umbrella of Commerce and Management till 2009 when it became an independent department. In 2014 the University renamed the course to Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from BBM (Bachelor of Business Management). It started with 8 students in 2006 and now in 2019 there are 348 students across the three years.

BBA is a popular undergraduate program and graduates of this program will have the skills necessary to help businesses grow and succeed in today’s competitive economy. Students will be equipped with core business skills as well as knowledge in the key areas necessary to support a range of business environments, thus allowing students to be employed in a variety of sectors and also be ready to start their own enterprise. Business Managers set the bar for every company. Whether directing small businesses or major corporations, managers lead by example. They foster a safe and professional environment for all employees while focusing on operational success. Talented business managers are needed in every sector. Career prospects include Banking, chartered accounting, government, investments, financial planning, private enterprise, etc.

The college has seen ten batches of BBA students graduate since its inception and the training given to them towards being budding managers and entrepreneurs has paid off. Many have continued into further studies or have found various positions in the corporate sector in finance, banking, marketing, human resources etc and are enjoying a fruitful career. The education and training they received from the college has given them a head start in their chosen field. Keeping the demands of the industry in mind the department has been constantly upgrading the program through internship programs and various add on courses, practical exposure, industrial visits, guest lectures, professional and life skills

SCC’s Department of Management has students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and the classes consist of students from local, national and international regions which make it a very vibrant and diverse group.

Faculty members are competent and dedicated and there is a mix of academic and industry experience both from India and overseas. This provides the students with good exposure and gain knowledge from the experiences of the faculty. Fests

Anveshan – Inter Collegiate Management Fest
Anveshan is a hugely popular fest well known amongst the various Colleges in Bangalore. The fest draws huge participation and is a much awaited event. The first edition of the fest was held in 2008 and it has continued to grow over the years. Reputed persons from the industry are invited to inaugurate the fest and share their insights with the students. Events in Management related areas like Finance, Marketing, HR, Business Quiz, Best Entrepreneur, Best Manager and are well designed to bring out the best in the students. The Corporate Fashion show is also a crowd puller and a hotly contested event. Well qualified judges are invited and the scenario of a corporate business organisation is created for the students to showcase their skills.

Nakshatra – Intra-department Management fest
Nakshatra is conducted to give our own students an opportunity to compete in various Management related events on the same lines as Anveshan. This helps them prepare themselves for the inter collegiate competitions. There is a lot of interest and good participation as each section (Six in total) vies for the overall trophy and the other prizes. Alumni members are invited as judges.
