M.Sc. Psychological Counselling

The Postgraduate Department of Psychology at St. Claret College, Autonomous, offers a two-year, full-time M.Sc. program in Counselling Psychology. This program blends academic rigor with practical exposure, equipping students with the knowledge and skills required for a successful career in counselling. Designed to build a strong conceptual foundation, nurture research aptitude, and promote ethical practices, the program prepares students to think scientifically and practice competently in the dynamic field of counselling psychology.

Practical skills are developed through supervised practicum sessions, field visits, internships, observerships and specialized add-on and certificate courses. Students gain exposure to a variety of counselling techniques and therapies, expanding their competence beyond the curriculum. Fully equipped and dedicated psychology labs at the college further enhance training by providing hands-on experience with standardized psychometric tests.

Throughout the program, students are encouraged to participate in conferences, workshops, and seminars to broaden their knowledge and stay updated with current trends in psychology. Eligibility Criteria:

B.A/B.Sc degree having studied at least one paper in Psychology at the under-graduate level, or B.Ed or P G Diploma in Counselling from a recognised University with 50% marks in aggregate.

The M.Sc. Counselling Psychology is spread across 2 years over four semesters.

Scope:

Students who successfully complete M.Sc. in Counselling Psychology are eligible to assume the role of a counselling psychologist in the following domains:
