Unique Practice Of The Department

The Department has its own uniqueness with a wide variety of skill development activities designed with the aim to enhance the intellectual, managerial, personal, interpersonal and societal skills of the students adhering to the institutional mission of imparting holistic education.

Current Affairs Weekly Quiz
The Current Affairs club of the Department conducts activities based on the reading and analysis of newspaper articles on a daily basis. The club also conducts weekly roundup quiz programmes on every Saturday. The weekly quiz programmes gives ample opportunities for the students to get a hold on the current affairs.

Research Forum
The regular sessions on various aspects of research are conducted for the students to better equip them to prepare research papers and also to present in the various national/international conferences and seminars. Well qualified faculty members provide excellent research guidance to the students to prepare them with a set of skills and potentiality to undertake the research effectively in the disciplines of social science and to turn their research articles into publishable material in the conference proceedings and also in the national/international journals.

Research Methodology Workshops
The workshop creates such a learning environment where the students gains a full proof practical knowledge on how to do data analysis and interpretation using SPSS and AMOS. The 45 hours workshop conducted every year better equip the students to prepare their project dissertation as part of their course curriculum.

Teaching Assignments
The teaching aspirants of the Department are given chance to experience the real time teaching. The teaching practice sessions are conducted for the B. Com undergraduates by the students who wish to take up teaching jobs after post-graduation. Further, the final year students are also given opportunities to take classes on general topics and research topics to the junior students.

NET/KSET Coaching
The main objective of the programme is to prepare candidates for appearing in KSET/NET examination, so that sufficient number of candidates becomes eligible for Lectureship /Junior Research Fellowship in the University system. The 40 hours programme includes practice sessions as well as theory classes.

NGO Internships
The department initiated the NGO internship programme with the objective to facilitate students, learning opportunities outside the classroom. Internship programs are designed to offer exposure to students from varied academic and professional backgrounds. These experiences provide the opportunity to apply classroom theory to “real world” situations, thus enhancing the students’ academic and career goals. All the students are involved themselves in different NGO’s for a week period during their first semester vacation. NAMS Sehasadan, Mother Teresa Home, Amba, Birds of Air , Kritagyata Trust, Jerish Trust, Nemmadi Trust and Sparsha Trust are some of the NGO’s served by students. The experience and skills that they gain through the internship helps them to transform themselves into a better student, better prospective employee, and overall a better human being.

Corporate Internships
Corporate Internship was initiated to facilitate students with the corporate experience. The purpose of the internship is to provide real-world experience that enable students to put everything they have learnt into action. Corporate internship can help the students gain skills that can be applied to their future jobs. This practical experience provides the opportunity to enhance ‘the students’ academic and career goals. All the students take up the interest to learn something new by involving themselves in different Corporate Companies during their second semester vacation. The students work as interns for a period of 40 days. The experience and skills they gain through internship helps them to mould themselves into a better prospective employee who could take up the challenges of present corporate world with more zeal and confidence.
