Claret Travel Desk – An Inhouse Travel Support Centre

The Claret Travel Desk is an innovative initiative of the Department of Tourism and Travel Management at St Claret College Autonomous, designed to provide students with a hands-on learning platform within the campus while offering valuable travel-related services to the college community.

Functioning as an in-house travel support and training unit, the Claret Travel Desk enables students to gain practical exposure to travel operations, itinerary planning, ticketing, customer service, and passport assistance under the supervision of faculty mentors and industry professionals. It serves as a live laboratory where theoretical knowledge from the classroom is applied in real-world scenarios, thus bridging the gap between academics and industry practice.

The Travel Desk assists in organizing study tours, industrial visits, educational excursions, and heritage trips for various departments of the college. It also provides guidance related to tour planning, FOREX handling, visa procedures, and travel documentation, helping students and faculty experience the complete cycle of travel management operations.

Through this initiative, students develop essential skills in communication, negotiation, operations management, and client handling preparing them for successful careers in the tourism, travel, and hospitality sectors. B.Com Tourism and Travel Management with Aviation

St. Claret College has partnered with Eurasian institute of Management (EIM) to provide the students from B. Com Travel and Tourism a comprehensive job-oriented programme in Aviation. The duration of the programme is three years/six semester and it is pursued alongside the Bachelor's degree. During the three-year/six semesters programme the students complete six diploma courses across various avenues in aviation. These diplomas are certified by STEDCOUNCIL and ISO 9001:2015.

At the successful completion of the programme, the students receive the following diploma certifications:

  • The students will have four hours of class every week on SCC campus, spread over two days.
  • The entire course is covered in 384 hours across 3 years/six semesters.
  • Examination: one exam per year
  • The students are required to take up one model exam in the final year.
  • The final exam will be valued by the certification board.
  • The programme is completely taught and handled by the faculty of Eurasian Institute of Management.

B.Com Tourism and Travel Management with Multimedia Animation & VFX

SCC has partnered with Design Roots, Bengaluru to offer undergraduate students basic learning in the field of multimedia animation and visual effects with their applications in the real world. This 200 hours programme spread over six semesters is open to students from all undergraduate programmes. In today's digital age, the field of multimedia has gained significant importance. From website design and development to graphic designing and animation, multimedia professionals are in high demand. Pursuing multimedia can open up a plethora of career opportunities. Travel & Tourism – Conferences

The Department of Commerce TRAVEL AND TOURISM organizes an intra-collegiate PROJECT REPORT COMPETITION “CERCHIER”. This event is organized in order to increase the research aptitude amongst the students. The best three papers also win a cash prize.

Concept Note
Project-based learning not only provides opportunities for students to collaborate or drive their own learning, but it also teaches them skills such as problem solving, and helps to develop additional skills integral to their future, such as critical thinking and time management. And maybe more importantly, it provides students with an opportunity to create authentic projects which are personal and meaningful to them. Students have the chance to pursue their own interests and as a result, opportunities for learning for students and teachers are tremendous.

This project report competition will focus on providing opportunities for young students from the tourism background to present their project that they have worked as a part of the curriculum. Emphasis is expected to be given on involvement how the students integrated the project activity.

Students from different Universities/ Colleges / Institutes which offer courses in Tourism disciplines are requested to submit full research projects on the following themes in the context of Tourism. These themes are suggestions and students may submit their projects beyond these suggestions if they are relevant to tourism.
