The Bachelor of Commerce (International Accounting and Finance) is a specialized
undergraduate program that combines academic study with professional certification from the
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), a globally recognized body.
Offered in partnership with ACCA at St. Claret College (Autonomous) in Bengaluru, the
program integrates ACCA-accredited papers with core commerce subjects. Students can take
external ACCA exams while pursuing their B.Com degree. This curriculum fosters analytical
skills and provides a strong foundation in areas like accounting, taxation, financial reporting,
and business ethics, making it a challenging yet rewarding option for ambitious students.

Levels in ACCA Course
ACCA has 13 papers in all. During B.Com program, students will have to complete the first 9
papers of ACCA. Only after the student clears the first 9 papers (foundation level), the
student is eligible to appear for the remaining 4 Professional papers. A student who clears
the BCom program is exempted from 5 of the Foundation Level papers. This means that the
student should take up exams for the remaining 4 papers to complete the Foundation Level.
Benefit
Students will be awarded with Advance Diploma in Accounting and Business on
completion of 9 papers; students will become Affiliate Members on completion of 13
papers and will be awarded Full Membership with ACCA as a designation after 3
years of relevant work experience.

SCC offers a B.Com in Strategic Finance (US CMA), integrating the curricula of B.Com and

with Miles Education, this program aligns with the Certified Management Accountant
(CMA) certification from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), requiring students
to take external IMA exams. Graduates can pursue careers as financial analysts, cost

Student Conference - SPARK
The Department of Commerce organizes an intra-collegiate paper presentation “Spark”. This event is organized in order to increase the research aptitude amongst the students. The best three papers also win a cash prize. The analytical and research skills of the students are developed and the students become more competitive when they have to participate in inter- collegiate paper competition organized by other colleges. It helps the students in gaining experience with evaluating and summarizing relevant research papers and it enhances the skills and overall growth of students. As part of the fest the department conducted the student conference to bring out the stage fear of the student and to also improve their communications skills. In addition to studies other activities are also important and the department organized paper presentation as one among those activities which is very much required in today’s World.
Department of Commerce conducts several programs for the development of students such as Workshops, Seminars, symposium, curricular enrichment and several others. Guest lecture is one of the initiatives and programs that the department organises to expose students to various other commerce subjects and fields. Commerce department organises different guest lectures on different topics for the students of every year. Guest lectures regarding the new innovation happening in commerce field, Lectures on giving the students an insight on different career opportunities which they can take upon once their education is completed. Alumni Guest lectures are conducted, where the passed out batch students of the college come down to share their work experience. Guest speakers have become an important part of the educational experience for students. They expose students to real-world life experiences from the position of someone who has been there. One important benefit that is derived from having a guest speaker is the enhancement of the students’ educational experience.
Guest Lectures are also divided into guest lecture for the industry and academia.
Department of commerce organized a one day FDP on GST and Indirect Taxes in association with National Association of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN) on 1st October 2019 for all the teaching and staff of St Claret College. The FDP gave elaborate insight of various aspects of Impact of GST on Traders in particular and Consumers in general.
Vocational Training:
The department of commerce also offers vocational training programs ‘paper Bag Making’ unit for the students of the department. The students are trained by a group of student trainers who help them in making paper bags of different variety and sizes. The vocational unit has plans to expand to other products as well.
Extension Activities:
The Department of commerce also organizes a number of outreach programmes. It organized sessions on ‘Business Idea Generation” and a ‘Free Computer Training Programme’ for the homemakers of the neighbourhood. The department also takes keen interest in Swachh Bharath initiatives therefore it has organized a lot of cleanliness drive in the neighbourhood. It also organized a variety of competitions for the parents who participated and won prizes. The department also conducted full-fledged two level ‘Basic spoken English Programme’ for the house wives of the neighbourhood. The department also reaches out to the government schools nearby to offer free classes on hygiene and also teach subject related topics to the students. The department also has sensitized the students in understanding the social issues such has women and children empowerment, and has organized a rally on prevention of child abuse. As a part of outreach the department in Association with Indian Cancer society organized ‘Awareness on Cervical and Breast cancer twice’ this was offered for the ladies in the neighbourhood and also for the girl students of the college.
Study Tours
St Claret College organises Study tours and educational trips to the students. Study tours are periodical trips to relevant destinations which helps the students to learn the subject in more comprehensive and enjoyable way. A study tour of 2-3 days to out station destination for third year students is organised. The main aim of the study tour is to aid students to acquire basic knowledge of functioning of the industry and to relate the class room teaching in reality.
