Objectives of UIW-SCC ISP
The UIW–SCC International Synodality Partnership is envisioned as a collaborative journey of faith, learning, service, and shared mission between the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW), San Antonio, Texas, USA, and St. Claret College (SCC), Bengaluru, India. Rooted in the Catholic identity and mission of both institutions, the partnership seeks to foster a deeper sense of communion, participation, and mission among students, faculty, administrators, and communities.
Inspired by the vision of synodality—walking together, listening to one another, discerning together, and participating in the mission of the Church—the project seeks to translate the spirit of the Synodal journey into meaningful academic, spiritual, social, cultural, and community engagement. It recognises faith as a source of hope, compassion, human dignity, solidarity, and commitment to the common good.
Inspired by the biblical call to “walk humbly with your God” (Micah 6:8) and to “encourage one another and build each other up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11), the partnership aims to cultivate a community where every voice is valued, diverse perspectives are respected, faith is deepened through encounter and dialogue, and collective wisdom guides action.

Deepen faith and spiritual formation by creating opportunities for prayer, reflection, faith-sharing, theological dialogue, and spiritual accompaniment, enabling participants to discover and live out their faith through learning, relationships, and service.

Promote meaningful dialogue and mutual learning among students, faculty, administrators, and communities from both institutions, fostering a culture of listening, respect, discernment, fraternity, and communion.

Strengthen global learning and international exposure through academic exchange, collaborative programmes, virtual interactions, cross-cultural engagement, and opportunities to appreciate the richness of diverse cultures and faith experiences.

Encourage collaborative research and innovation addressing contemporary academic, technological, social, environmental, and global challenges, guided by ethical reflection and a commitment to the common good.

Facilitate faculty and student development through knowledge sharing, mentoring, guest lectures, workshops, exchange opportunities, spiritual enrichment, and joint academic and formative initiatives.

Advance community engagement and social responsibility by identifying community needs and undertaking initiatives that contribute to education, empowerment, sustainability, human development, and the promotion of social justice, inspired by the Gospel call to serve others, particularly the vulnerable and marginalised.

Promote human dignity and ethical leadership by integrating faith-inspired values, compassion, inclusion, justice, integrity, solidarity, and social responsibility into academic, professional, and institutional practices.

Create opportunities for shared participation and co-creation, enabling stakeholders to listen to diverse perspectives, engage in collective discernment, and contribute actively to the development and mission of the partnership.

Foster intercultural and interfaith understanding by creating spaces for respectful encounter among people of different cultures, traditions, and faith backgrounds, promoting mutual understanding, dialogue, peace, and fraternity.

Ultimately, the partnership seeks to embody the call of the Synodal Church to communion, participation, and mission, enabling both institutions to accompany one another in discovering how faith and education can together contribute to the transformation of individuals, communities, and the wider world.
