Community Outreach and Engagement at Siddhartha Nagar
As part of the UIW–SCC Synodality Project, the delegates from UIW, Dr. Michael Frye and Rev. Fr. Deejo Pathrose along with the SCC faculty visited Siddhartha Nagar, a socio-economically disadvantaged community in Bengaluru, to understand its lived realities, aspirations, and developmental needs. The engagement involved meaningful interaction with residents and observation of challenges related to education, basic amenities, livelihood opportunities, healthcare awareness, and community empowerment.
The visit reflected the Synodal spirit of walking with communities, listening to their voices, discerning their needs, and responding through compassionate and sustainable action. It also highlighted the importance of partnerships among educational institutions, community organizations, and local stakeholders in advancing inclusive development.
Through this outreach, the Synodality Project seeks to transform listening into action and solidarity into service, fostering social responsibility, participation, human dignity, and sustainable community development. The initiative represents a tangible expression of Synodality in mission—being present with communities, accompanying them, and working together toward a more inclusive and empowered society.
